Stair Way to Heaven
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009Flamingos

Every time I visit the National Zoo I have been trying to capture a photo like this, and finally I’ve succeeded. Might seem pretty basic but getting the flamingos to all be in cooperative mood took many tries.
A Line in the Road
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009This is from a shoot I did several months ago with Laura. She was very easy to work with and we were able to accomplish several different looks. This one was impromptu, I saw this completely deserted road and thought, “lets go for this,” and Laura was quite content to lay down in the middle of a road.
The Canon 5D Mark II
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009I finally got my hands on the Canon 5D Mark II camera, and after upgrading from an EOS Digital Rebel XTi I am left amazed. The image clarity is so much better, the video function blows my mind, and the auto focus works so much better. Can’t wait to take some real pictures with it, I’m planning on heading over to the Botanical Gardens or the zoo today to put the camera through the paces.
Shells of Delmarva
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009I’ve been working on a new series of photos, Shell’s from Delmarva. Delmarva is a peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Cheapeake Bay. Shells have been collected from the tidewaters of the Potomac to Chincoteague Island.
Trials
The titles for most of my work is pretty self explanatory, however this one photo has a story behind it. Recently my mother had lost a close friend to cancer. She had come to the beach hoping to collect some big intact conch shells. But the only shells that showed were ones that had been damaged during their life and journey through the ocean. But she then saw a beauty in how each shell’s experiences had made it unique. That’s what I tried to show through this image.

Dumbarton Oaks
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009I went to Dumbarton Oaks the other day. It is a beautiful park, but not because of the blooming plants. Rather it is the sort of rustic decaying beauty that makes the park special. Apparently they are on hard financial times as I heard a couple complaining that “last year they didn’t charge an entrance fee.” I defiantly will be coming back prepared to get some photos of the structures around the park, and not just of the pretty flowers.

One more reason for GOogle to buy Twitter

Peacock

The peacock walked right over to my speedlite, I thought he was going to attack it, but because it was nearly right under him it yielded some dramatic lighting.
